Convoy Down To Parit Yani
As usual i am gonna bore you guys with some details on the third trip down south to Johor. This is the third trip down south for me and the second trip with the Buaya 4×4 group. We went to Lenga last week, and this week we headed on over to Parit Yani, a 15 minutes drive from Yong Peng. This time around we went down with 227 bags of rice - those 5kg bags, thats a total of 1.1 tons, gas stoves which was purchased with the remaining fund from the second collection i did, and some other food stuff.

Silversurfer picked me up around 8AM, and made a move heading towards the Seremban R&R where everyone was suppose to group. We reached Yong Peng around noon and was joined by this group of Rotary club members of Batu Pahat, and a St Johns Ambulance member who was responsible in bringing us around the place.

Our first destination was this school hall where we unloaded 42 bags of rice and 42 bag of other ration which the Rotary Club helped us packed from our remaining stuff when we came last week. We left the stuff to be distributed by this one village head and moved on to the next destination. Yeah i forgot to mention that here one the convoy member - Captain MasalaMasalah aka Andrew, somehow left his key in the ignition. And yeah did i mention he was a pilot, a commercial airline pilot? The locals went and get a locksmith and will only reach in 30 minutes time. In the meantime he tried using his swiss knife, a parang. We then broke
into the guards house and stoletook a cloth hanger and with that cloth hanger, Qaiyum manage to open it up.

Look how happy he is …

Then we went to this one school which is still a relieve centre, there was 35 families who are still staying here in the relieve center, when we reached there was this VIP there who was just finishing his meal. Not sure who the hell he was, but he drove a huge 5 Series. We were there unloading the stuff and we saw him leaving. Kokonut Soldier aka Lionel was in-charge of passing the stuffs out to the families while we looked on and snap away.

Was a chinese school …

We then moved on to a different relieve center just another 5 minutes down the same road, a Chinese temple. Remember the chinese school we went to before this? Thats a Chinese school, but was somehow full with Malay flood victims, i did not see a single chiense family there despite that being a Chinese school, so that would mean we are in a Chinese area, but somehow all the chinese was at this temple, and when were at the school earlier we saw there was actually some other stuff people donated there earlier, but i never saw any at this temple. Nevertheless we unloaded the rest of the gas stoves and more rations for them.

Made a line to bring the stuff down from the vehicle …

Then headed on to some housing area at Yong Peng, here went street to street, apparently these people were registered with the Rotary Club to enable them to get aids from them. We only went on to specific streets which was the worst hit ones. Then it started to rain, but we went on distributing the stuff in the rain.

After going through 3 housing areas, there was still quite a lot of rice left, i jumped one and started going around the housing area giving out rice to those who came out on the street. It was a havoc, as we were unable to control the crowd, nevertheless i manage to gave out all the rice in Qaiyum’s 4×4. Then all the other in the convoy proceeded the same and started giving stuff out, to those who came out from their home.

We made a move and the Rotary Club’s past president insisted that she offer to buy us Teh Tarik. We head on back to town, and we were brought to this restaurant and we were “conned” into having a 7-course dinner tea break even came with faux shark fins too, and of course beer was on the flow too.

We then made a move back to KL and stopped by Seremban for Kokonut Soldier’s father-in-law’s birthday party. Had a few beer and then made our way back KL, when we made another stop at this other Buaya 4×4’s member Paul. We were treated to this limited bowls of Sarawak Laksa, and more beers. Haha - Thanks Paul!
So thats the summary of the trip down yesterday, no plans yet for any future trips down again in the near future. Let me remind you guys again that this Buaya 4×4 fellas are a great bunch. My utmost respect for them!
